German States - Baden, 1850-71, scarce trio of Postage Due labels, comprising 1850 (June 9) "Tax Zettel" in magenta- as mail to government officials had to be prepaid, any letters with postage due received this label indicating that the addressee decides who pays the postage, consequently no examples have been recorded attached to their original letters, and 1850-71 white labels for charges on unpaid returned letters (2), type I (Under Law of 1811) and type II (Under Law of 1870) on 1850 and 1871 folded letters respectively, the last not complete.

German States - Baden, 1863 (Apr.) folded letter, posted unfranked and bearing on reverse Postage Due 1863 3kr black on yellow (Michel 2x) overlapping singles (2) tied by "Altbreisach" c.d.s., the letter has been "turned", the other side with 3kr (corner defect) cancelled "74", showing "Postablage/Biengen" oval handstamp and straight-line "Krotzingen" d.s., highly unusual, especially so with the Dues cancelled by datestamp instead of in blue pencil as was normal practice.

German States - Baden, 1864 (c.) large part "Nachnahme" folded letter, posted unfranked as cash on delivery letter, Postage Due 1863 1kr black on yellow and 3kr black on yellow (Michel P1x, P2x) strip of three tied by "Waldshut" c.d.s. (Nov. 23), the 1kr has small perf. faults and the 3kr has been lifted and replaced, rare and attractive franking, particularly with c.d.s. cancellation.

German States - Bavaria, 1863 (c.) folded letter, bearing Postage Due 1862 1kr black (Michel P1) from the top of the sheet, deep color and sharp impression on bright white paper, with large margins all round showing vertical guide lines, perfectly tied by "Straubing" semi-circle d.s. Extremely Fine.

German States - Bavaria, 1870 (July 10) complete folded letter to Bayreuth (July 11), bearing 1862 Postage Due 3kr black used as a definitive postage stamp, the inscription "Vom Empfanger zahlbar" of the stamp barred out in pen and with red ink endorsement beside stamp "Guldig alls 3 Kr. Marke", the stamp with large even margins and well tied by "Brand" c.d.s., showing another strike adjacent and arrival c.d.s. on reverse, extremely fine and rare provisional usage (only three examples recorded from Brand).
