RAILWAY/No. 2/SOUTH" c.d.s. April 27, and violet straight line "O.K. BUFF(ALO) APR 28 1888"; 3¢ stamp has rounded corner, otherwise a Very Fine example of the rare so-called anomalous 2¢ registry rate to the U.S., in use for only two months, from March 1 to April 30, 1888.

Co., Cape Breton (Nova Scotia), faint Feb 6 postmark appears to be (NORTH S)YDN(EY), backstamped blurred strike NEW (-?-), N.S. c.d.s., Feb 9, Fine and unique usage mentioned in a footnote by Stanley Gibbons; accompanied by a 1997 C.P.E.S. certificate stating "on cover paying the 2¢" rate and "Appears Genuine (Unofficial usage of a 3¢ Bisect)." Also a 1999 V.G.Greene certificate: "Partial copy used on portion of cover, genuine but contrary to postal regulations".
