Oct. 1" c.d.s. with line underneath date, partly struck off cover's edge, original 1850 enclosure; envelope with barest hint of toning near top (not affecting stamp), One of only two 1847 covers with the Utica circlular date stamp---all others bear the familiar double oval, Very Fine and rare.

It appears as though the postmark was deliberately struck off the envelope's edge, presumably to eliminate the integral rate found at the bottom of the device, probably a "10". The other cover known with this postmark also has the c.d.s. partly struck off the cover's edge in similar fashion.
