New Britain, 1915, Rabaul (Deutsch Neuguinea) No. 837, variety "G.R.I." only double (SG 33a var./ Gibbs 33d), second surcharge slanting downwards to left thereby causing most of "3d" to be omitted, fresh, o.g., short perf. at top and light vertical gum crease of no consequence (neither mentioned on accompanying certificate) since such faults are endemic to these labels due to the fragile nature of the paper. Deutsche Postagentur" paper seal in blue on reverse, flap at back missing. Very Fine and an extraordinary usage. Illustrated in Gibbs, page 134.
