Africa" double-ring c.d.s., togther with 1913 1s orange vertical pair, 5s purple and blue and 10s deep blue and olive green and 1916 £1 green and red vertical strip of three, cancelled by "Capetown/14" bi-lingual double-ring c.d.s. (for the redirection), Fine to Very Fine usage.

ONE OF THE LARGEST GEORGIAN HEAD FRANKINGS IN SOUTHERN AFRICAN PHILATELY, FURTHER ENHANCED BY ITS SHOWING BOTH SOUTH AFRICAN AND SOUTH WEST AFRICAN USAGES.

CONSIDERED BY MANY TO BE THE MOST IMPORTANT KING'S HEAD FRANKING IN EXISTENCE.

£3 17s represented postage for 28 pounds, 12 ounces at 1d per ounce (£3 16s 8d), plus 4d fee for registration.

The 3d ultamarine, which was only issued in South Africa on 4 October 1922, is extremely rare used on cover in South West Africa.

Very Fine group.
