1847, 5¢ red brown (1), large margins except at bottom left corner, attractive late shade, tied by black grid on Jan. 1, 1851 folded letter to the Hopedale Community near Milford, Mass., red "Boston 5cts 2 Jan." c.d.s. at center and manuscript "(Paid)" at lower left, lengthy contents from mother to son, who was studying there, with a P.S. requesting that the letter be burned, Very Fine.

1847, 10¢ black (2), margins all round except barely touched at top left, intense shade and superb impression, tied by pen cancels, red grids and matching "Boston 10cts 21 Jun." c.d.s. on undated folded cover to "Clayville near Utica N York", manuscript "Missent" with oval "Utica N.Y. Jun." datestamp in blue with ornaments, additional red "Lewiston N.Y. Jun. 24" c.d.s., the latter apparently a receiving postmark though there is no indication of charges; bottom flap removed, Very Fine usage with three different style datestamps on one cover.

As the Clayville Post Office opened in 1849, and the oval Utica N.Y. in blue with ornaments, to our knowledge, was not used after 1849, this would have to be an 1849 issue.

Sep. 11" c.d.s. and matching "5" in double line circle, Very Fine usage.

Sep. 13" c.d.s. on front only originating in Philadelphia, blue Philada. postmark at right, redirected back there with manuscript "forwd", there is also a "1" at top which may be just a slip of the pen or an indication of an advertised charge; stamp with tiny tear at right, front with tape stain in address, Fine usage, the only 1847 stamp with this New Jersey postmark.
