Howe Jul 1 1898" two-line cancellation on Arkansas Construction Company check dated July 1, 1898 in the amounted of $325, file folds, Very Fine and scarce use on the first day tax stamps were required.

Due to the shortage of proper revenue stamps at the onset of the Spanish American War, other revenues and regular issues were provisionally used for a short time until supplies of regular revenue issue could be supplied.

Jul 12 1898" two-line handstamp on Consolidated Kansas City Smelting & Refining Co. first of exchange draft from Mexico City drawn upon their New York City office in the amount of $5,000, with Mexico 1898-99 50c. (three) and $1 revenues tied on reverse, required to be stamped before acceptance in the Unted States at a rate for inland bills of exchange 2¢ per $100; light file folds, Very Fine and scarce dual nation franking.
