1851, 1¢ blue, type II (7), unused partial pane of 70, positions 1-7/91-97 from the right pane of plate 2, bright and fresh for the most part but positions 57/97 are cut into at right and there are several tears, creases and repairs, leaving only a few stamps unaffected. Still a handsome showpiece.

A GREAT RARITY AND AN IMPORTANT PIECE IN THE PANTHEON OF ONE-CENT 1851-1856 PHILATELY.

This block was taken from the full pane owned by Arthur Hind and illustrated on page 189 of Neinken’s treatise on the 1¢ stamps of 1851-61. The faults mentioned above are all visible in the Neinken photo, the small nicks in the top and bottom margins having been subsequently filled in.

1851, 1¢ blue, type III (8), virtually clear to large margins showing nice wide breaks at top and bottom, with vivid color, bright paper and a strong stitch watermark. Mobile, Al c.d.s. cancel. Fresh and Very Fine.

1851, 3¢ orange brown (10), extra large margins, just touched at top left, cancelled by blue circular grid and tied by matching framed "Troy & New York/Steam Boat." handstamp on folded cover to Weedsport N.Y., matching circled "2cts." rating handstamp; minor edge toning, Very Fine.

1852, 3¢ dull red (11), horizontal pair with interpane margin and centerline at left (position 91-92R2L), huge margins all around including a bit of adjacent stamp at right and full "Three Cents" labels of stamps above, rich color, original gum. Light natural paper wrinkle in right stamp not mentioned in certificates. An Extremely Fine and handsome pair.
