1d red on blue (SG 4), two roughly separated singles which originally formed a pair, and 1857 2d pale blue on white paper (S.G. 9), cancelled "12" on 1858 (1 Sept.) folded letter sheet (lower back panel missing) from Petre to Wellington (3.9), the 2d stamp did not originate on the cover, the 1d is a rare usage. 2d blue on blue (SG 5), large to clear margins virtually all around, boldly cancelled and just tied "1" on 1856 (23 June) envelope from Auckland to Newcastle upon Tyne (18.10), with "Prudhoe Station" circular undated datestamp and "Plymouth/Ship Letter" c.d.s. (17.10) on reverse, handstruck "8" on front indicating 8d ship letter rate charge payable by recipient, Very Fine. Campbell Paterson A2b.

2d blue on blue (SG 5 var.), showing papermaker's watermark "&E" of "Charles Skipper/&E/London", large to ample margins with portion of adjoining stamp, tiny nick in frame at right, tied "1" on 1858 (23 Jan.) envelope from Auckland to Russell, stamp lifted for inspection and hinged back, very fine usage.
