1826 (Jul. 9) Cincinnati, rimless postmark on folded cover from Zachary Taylor endorsed and signed "On Service Z. Taylor Lt. Col. U.S. Army" to Washington, D.C., manuscript "Free", Very Fine, an early endorsed cover from the future President.

Zachary Taylor grew up on the frontier of Kentucky, entering the U.S. Infantry in 1808 as a 1st lieutenant and distinguished himself in the War of 1812., fighting Indians in central Indiana. In 1819, he received the promotion to lieutenant-colonel and was stationed at several military outposts on the Western frontier.
