1873-88 Bank Note Issues, Balance of Plate Proofs on Card (156P4//218P4), comprises about 490 singles and 44 blocks; includes 11 singles purporting to be 156P4, but shades would indicate that most are P#s, as there was only one printing of the 1¢, 6¢ & 10¢ proofs on card; similarly, there are eight 3¢, ten 6¢ and eleven 10¢ Continentals, some of which may be P3s, though they were all purchased as P4s (our Scott value counts four of the 1¢ and all of the 3¢, 6¢ & 10¢ as P4s); quantities of the singles, other than the four scarce Continentals, range from a low of 12 (216P4) to a high of 31 (P205P4), with most being around 20; the blocks include 213 (2), 214 (6)215 (3), 216 (1) & 218 (2); also includes five each of 183 & 185, supposedly identified by printing; a few minor discolorations, but otherwise nearly everything is clean and Very Fine.
