1918, 2¢ carmine rose, Offset imperf, type IV, "Wilson" roulette (532), block of four, imperf at bottom, original gum, never hinged, Very Fine.
Estimate $300 - 400

Expertization: each with "Wilson roulette, H. Herst" in pencil on reverse.

This roulette was created by Pittsburgh banker J.H. Wilson when a loan that had been secured with a quantity of imperf U.S. stamps, defaulted. Wilson applied the roulette so that he could recoup some of his loss by selling the stamps to local businesses.
