Tippin, Commdg., rare woodcut letterhead showing camp, on 4 page lettersheet (penciled "No. 2") with description of the Battle of Chancellorsville, all that remains of a longer letter from an unknown Union soldier, includes transcript, desirable & fascinating even in this incomplete state, Fine.

FREE./For the Regiment/ADAMS EXPRESS CO./Per HOEY, blue handstamp in four lines, on cover to New Haven, Ct. with imprint, "Office House of Representatives U.S./FREE." and signature of the Clerk, J.W. Forney at top, "New-York May 2, 1861" duplex struck at lower left, small tear at right edge and faint toning from its placement in a scrapbook from which it was only recently removed (some paper still adhering to back), Fine and rare, only about a dozen examples of this marking are known, but this is the first one we've seen in combination with the House imprint and Forney's signature.

Jul. 18, 1864" c.d.s. & target duplex with "Due 3" handstamp, original enclosure with Commission letterhead from man who had helped raise a company of home guards to deal with Morgan's raids, Very Fine, rare letter handstamp.

Hosp." at upper right, not quite readable docketing at left, small tears and without flap, Fine appearing but a rare handstamp.
