According to Neinken, this is a transitional type II/IIIa stamp, which he notes as having a "weak" outer top frameline. Since this stamp has a weak top frameline, it is possibly a type IIIa. Scott value for a type IIIa is $1,050.

1852, 1¢ blue, type IV, partial reconstruction (9), 89 stamps comprising 35 different positions from the left pane and 48 from the right and six duplicates (mostly in multiples); we note at least 15 sheet margin examples including pos. 10L & 1R with corner margins, 20L, 30L, 11R (PFC) & 61R showing center lines and 88/98L vertical pair; we also note four other pairs and four strips of three; condition is outstanding with virtually all having four margins and many being jumbos, and, while there may be some tiny hidden flaws, a spot check did not reveal any. Scott value is $10,680 without counting recutting varieties or multiples. A teriffic lot for the specialist or just for the connoisseur of fine stamps.
