Canada, 1852, Beaver, 3d red, Kingston experiment perforations (Unitrade 4 var.), horizontal pair, scissor separated, tied by two strikes of four-ring "18" cancels on blue folded cover from the Ontario Foundry Co. to New York, reddish "Kingston U.C., MY 30" c.d.s. and "Canada" arced exchange office handstamp, some docketing upper left, docketed as received (6.2), one flap removed and vertical file fold; also includes second July 11, 1856 cover from the Ontario Foundry Co. to the same recipient in New York with two imperforate 3d red (4) singles, which was posted prior to the trials; Very Fine and remarkable. Scott 4 var.

All known covers bearing stamps with the Kingston trial perforations originate from the Ontario Foundry Co. where the experimental perforating machine was manufactured. Illustrated in Boggs, p. 168, fig. 47.

Canada, 1852, Beaver, 3d red, private perforations (Unitrade 4 var.), 3d red (4) with "sawtooth" perforations about 12-12½; 3d brown red (4a) two: one with sewing machine perforations, perfs clipped on one side; the other with irregular perforation of ovaloid holes; and 3d brown red on horizontally ribbed paper (4c) rouletted about 13½; a nicely centered group, Fine to mostly Very Fine. Nickle, last two also Jarrett. Scott 4 varieties.
