Brattleboro Vt. Jun 25, red rimless postmark with manuscript day, on 1839 folded letter with matching "PAID/A.O" (for postmaster Andrew Oliver) to Cleveland, manuscript "25" rate, Very Fine, very scarce postmaster handstamp; accompanied by the same marking used with a different style Brattleboro postmark from Nov. 13, 1834. Fine.

Derby-Line Vt. Nov. 5, negative serrated postmark with manuscript date, the so-called "Beehive", well struck on ca. 1836 folded letter to South Strafford, red manuscript "12½" written above what appears to be a first attempt to change a "10" to "12", Very Fine. A handsome example of this famous Vermont fancy postmark.

Essex Vt. Aug 16, fancy postmark in blue with tiny Pointing Hand and similar small date, great clear strike with matching "5" on 1847 folded letter to Bakersfield, then forwarded with manuscript "Bakersfield Vt. Aug. 20" and "forwd" to Vineyard, Vt., originally totaled up to 10c, but then deleted though it’s not clear why since the error in address was the sender's, Very Fine. A very scarce marking in combination with an unusual usage and an uncommon destination.

Fairhaven Vermont, Mar 11, clear strike of ornamental oval with manuscript day, on 1825 folded letter to New York with large bold free frank of postmaster G. Warren, Very Fine, choice strike of this extremely attractive marking. Accompanying is another example, 1824, with same frank but without "Free."

Johnson-Vt.- Dec 16, red postmark with dotted ornaments, matching large "3" with negative "Paid" on small embossed ladies envelope to Whitehall, N.Y. Accompanying this are two other Johnson covers dated 1850, each with 30mm postmark with small date, one with large Roman numeral "X" and other with "5" and "Paid", each with rate arranged to appear attached, though as far as we know, this was not the case, but the results are striking. Very Fine trio.

North Craftsbury Vt. May 9, bold postmark in red, with manuscript "North" capping it, matching "Paid 3" in circle, on undated envelope with fancy embossed border, to Morrisville, Extremely Fine. A beautiful example of this very scarce and undervalued townmark. The marking also exists as "No." but this is the rarer form.

August 1, large part oval in brown, with bottom missing as described in ASCC, manuscript date (written over July 31) on 1829 folded letter to Oxford, N.H., manuscript "10" rate; scattered toned spots, Fine and very rare, only recorded in 1829. Accompanying this is a scarce manuscript postmark dated 1830.

Thetford Vt., oval handstamp with manuscript name and dates, three examples, all well struck on covers dated 1815, 1816 and 1822; first is "25½" war rate, second is franked by P.M. Thos. Hopkins (both 37 x 24mm), last is 40 x 27mm with "12½" rate; a Very Fine trio which would make an outstanding exhibit page.
