Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed as private banker, strong signature in black ink on letterhead of the New York office of the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland, Oct 5, 1921; to Hon. H.W. Chadeayne, Newburgh N.Y., thanking him for his good wishes while recovering from his initial polio attack, which occurred two months earlier, in part, "The doctors tell me I am getting along splendidly and I hope to be back in the game before very long."; Very Fine, with original envelope of transmittal (slightly damaged).

Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed as president, bold signature in blue ink on White House letterhead, May 27, 1933; to U.S. Congressman Fred A. Hatley, Jr., speaking of the president's policy re home mortgages vis-a-vis farm mortgages, Very Fine.

14 years later Hartley, along with Senator Robert A. Taft, would sponsor the bill that became known as the Taft-Hartley Act.

Punched for small 3-ring binder, small abrasion on card at lower right. Very Fine and unique.

1943-46, 1¢-5¢ Roosevelt, large die proofs on India (930P1-933P1), full cards, each is punched for a small 3-ring binder and is handstamped on reverse "Engraver’s Stock Proof/Authorized by (initials)" with blue control number. F.-V.F. The 1¢ value is unlisted by Scott—the 5¢ is unpriced; each is believed unique outside of BEP archives.

The 3¢ proof is printed in a red violet shade noticeably different than the violet shade of the issued stamp (a copy of which is affixed on the card below the proof).

1945, 3¢ Roosevelt, five Dorothy Knapp handpainted Patriotic FDCs (932), each a different patriotic theme including the Statue of Liberty, the Liberty Bell and the U.S. Coast Guard, numbered in the design by Knapp as numbers 12-15 & 18, each bearing a block of four tied by Washington, D.C. first day cancel, unaddressed. Very Fine.

1958 Handpainted Essay for a proposed FDR stamp in the American Credo series, stamp size drawing in red & blue on parchment paper featuring the quote "We have nothing to fear but fear itself", signed and dated 1958 below the design by Frank P. Conley, the designer of the issued stamps in the series; a little toned around the edges. Otherwise Very Fine and quite striking.
