Franklin D. Roosevelt typed letter signed as private banker, strong signature in black ink on letterhead of the New York office of the Fidelity & Deposit Company of Maryland, Oct 5, 1921; to Hon. H.W. Chadeayne, Newburgh N.Y., thanking him for his good wishes while recovering from his initial polio attack, which occurred two months earlier, in part, "The doctors tell me I am getting along splendidly and I hope to be back in the game before very long."; Very Fine, with original envelope of transmittal (slightly damaged).

F.-V.F. The 1¢ value is unlisted by Scott—the 5¢ is unpriced; each is believed unique outside of BEP archives.

The 3¢ proof is printed in a red violet shade noticeably different than the violet shade of the issued stamp (a copy of which is affixed on the card below the proof).

1958 Handpainted Essay for a proposed FDR stamp in the American Credo series, stamp size drawing in red & blue on parchment paper featuring the quote "We have nothing to fear but fear itself", signed and dated 1958 below the design by Frank P. Conley, the designer of the issued stamps in the series; a little toned around the edges. Otherwise Very Fine and quite striking.
