1893, Columbians complete, plate proofs on India paper (230P3-245P3), complete set, die sunk on 152mm x 277mm cards, bound into a leather bound album, presented to Francois Aussaresses by D.E. Woodhull, president of the American Bank Note Company, with "Christophe Colomb, 1492-1892 stamped in gold leaf on the spine, the card edges are also in gold leaf. Begins with a title page and then a page preceding each proof with the name of the value. The proofs and cards are remarkably fresh (1¢ has a slight spot on card). It is believed to be one of only five produced, and the only one in French. Original dust case accompanies. A stunning set and a remarkable philatelic artifact. Catalogue value of the proofs $3,305.
