Canada, Stampless folded letter to England, from Simcoe, U.C., via Hamilton and Liverpool to Berwick, postmarked Sincoe, Oct 4, 1858 and straight line "REGISTERED" (scratched out) faint red "PAID", "8d Stg" and "10d Cy.", backstamped Hamilton Oct 5 and red straight line "BY CANADIAN/PACKET" red "SHIPLETTER/PAID/LIVERPOOL" tombstone Oct 21 on front and Berwick c.d.s. on the same date; small repaired tear at top, Fine and unusual.

Harrison hypothesized that upon learning that the addressee would be charged 6d for a registered letter, the writer changed his mind and sent the letter by regular mail. Accordingly the "REGISTERED" handstamp was scratched out and the 1d fee refunded.
