Estimate 4,000 - 5,000

Provenance: Hinde, Jephcott

At first glance this might appear to be a triple weight cover of 1½ oz. at 12½¢ per half ounce with the registration fee paid with the fourth stamp. In fact, there was no triple-rate available to the U.K. until January 12, 1866. Letters over one ounce were charged the two ounce quadruple rate.

Realized $8,000
