Trinidad, 1885 (Apr. 1) cover from Wood Green to Port of Spain (Apr. 20), posted unfranked showing unframed "T" handstamp and bearing Postage Due 1885 8d slate black (S.G. D8), in the distinctive shade of the first printing, crisply tied by "Trinidad" c.d.s., small central spike hole, very fine, the UPU rate for unpaid mail, the cover has a "6" accountancy mark in blue crayon which may be a credit to the ship's captain though none was due under UPU rules; to the best of our knowledge the earliest known use of the first Due issue on cover, this is the only 8d recorded on cover of less than ten pre-1900 Postage Due covers known, a highly important cover.
