Japan, 1875 (c.) 1s blue stationery card used domestically from Koriyama, bearing Cherry Blossom 2s yellow applied as Due, cancelled in manuscript with framed chop in red alongside denoting deficiency in postage; and 1880 advertising cover from Chicago to Dr. Mendenhall, Imperial University, Tokyo, via Yokohama bearing U.S.A. 3¢ green cancelled by duplex and on reverse Koban 2s gray black pairs (2) cancelled by small "Payable at destination" framed handstamp, front shows various tax marks including circular "Due/8" representing 8 sen double deficiency, small cover tear at foot.
