Canada, 1877, 10¢ dull rose lilac (40), tied by target cancels, along with a 3¢ bright vermilion #41 and a 5¢ gray #42, on a heavy wrapper approximately 4½ x 9½" that contained legal documents sent registered from Hamilton to the Prothonotary (Chief Clerk) of the Queen's Bench at Winnipeg, a 2¢ registered stamp #F1 is tied by a Hamilton c.d.s., June 22, 1886, multiple strikes "R" in oval on both sides and backstamped REGISTERED/WINNIPEG oval, June 26, with two large intact red wax seals and a blue notary public handstamp on reverse, the latter attesting that the package was "opened in the presence of" attorneys for both the plaintiff and the defendant on June 29th; the single 10¢ is a replacement, otherwise a Very Fine and remarkably well preserved cover showing payment of 16 times the single letter rate of 3¢.
