Canada, To Capetown, "Africa" (35 (2), 41), 1¢ yellow, pair and 3¢ vermilion, tied by Calgary squared circles, May 25 (?), 1894, on cover, forwarded to Bulawayo "c/o P.O. via Mafeking" and then in red "Try Salisbury", backstamped London June 13, Capetown July 5, Tuli, Mashonaland July 15, and Bulawayo July (?) 20; finally, undeliverable, the letter was returned to the Dead Letter Office at Cape Town on Jan 29, 1895 and the Canadian D.L.O. with three different backstamps on Mar 14, 16 and 18; various due marking include handstamped "9d" and "4d" and manuscript "T8d" (red) and "18" (blue); the 3¢ stamp is damaged but a fabulous cover franked with the 5¢ U.P.U. rate despite the fact that Cape Colony was not a member of the U.P.U.
