Lindbergh, Charles A. (1902-1974), "The Lone Eagle", celebrated aviation pioneer, made first solo non-stop transatlantic flight. Signature on Airmail Flight cover with 10¢ Lindbergh Airmail stamp postmarked Springfield, Ill., August 15, 1927, with pictorial "Welcome Lindy" cachet at left, special circular stamp "Special Flight Lindbergh Day C.A.M. No. 2" signed by Lindbergh who adds Feb. 20, 1928 date, also by Springfield postmaster and Bud Gurney, pilot of escort plane. addressed in another hand. Very Fine Springfield's Lindbergh Field was dedicated August 15, 1927.
