Rommel, Erwin (1891-1944), German Field Marshal, legendary panzer commander in North Africa, implicated in plot to kill Hitler and forced to commit suicide. 12 x 8 TLS in German (with English translation) signed in dark pencil, January 4, 1941, np, to Mr. Kollmar. Rommel sends his thanks for Kollmar's attendance at Rommel's mother's funeral, adding: "We four children are thankful that our mother was with U.S. for such a long time and was allowed to pass on in her sleep."
