Windsor, Duke and Duchess, Edward VIII ruled Great Britain and the Commonwealth Jan. 20-Dec. 11, 1936, abdicating to marry Wallis Simpson, the divorced American commoner. His brother, King George VI, who succeeded him, gave Edward and Wallis the titles of Duke and Duchess of Windsor.Two signed items. 1.) British Sept. 1, 1936 cacheted FDC of the King Edward VIII issue, Hand addressed to "Hon. F. D. Roosevelt, Washington, D.C." in another hand at right, and signed "Edward Duke of Windsor" at left side. While the cover is probably from President Roosevelt's collection, the cover was not autographed in his lifetime. 2.) 1965 British Winston Churchill stamp cacheted FDC, hand addressed, signed by "Wallis Duchess of Windsor" and "Edward Duke of Windsor". With 1969 secretarial cover letter from the Windsors' Paris home.
