Feodorovna, Alexandra (1872-1918), Empress of Russia, married Czar Nicholas II in 1894, killed with her family by the Bolsheviks. Approx. 4¼ x 5½ postally used black-bordered mourning envelope (for her father-in-law Czar Alexander III, died Nov. 1, 1894) addressed in her hand to "Her Majesty/ The Queen/ Windsor Castle" (her grandmother, Queen Victoria of England) with August 20, 1895 Russian postmark. Wax seal, printed Tsarskoe Selo (name of tsarist summer home) in Cyrillic, with Queen Victoria's handwritten docketing, "The Empress of Russia", on back. Envelope flap tear, Very Fine and excellent association.
