Kapitsa, Pyotr (1894-1984), Soviet physicist, director of U.S.S.R. Institute of Physical Problems, dismissed 1946 for refusal to work on atomic bomb project. Awarded 1978 Nobel Prize for Physics. DS in Cyrillic from Lev Artsimovich (first scientist to get thermonuclear reaction in a laboratory) on Academy of Sciences letterhead, Moscow, Dec. 22, 1961 to Kapitsa asking him what reports should be read at an upcoming scientific conference. Kapitsa writes on the document (AES in Russian): "Com. Borovik and Abrykosov, please deliver the list of possible reports. P. K." and dates it the 26th. Two file holes at left margin.
