"X", matching "Red Bank N.J. 27 July" postmark on large part of 1849 folded cover to Raleigh, N.C.; pair with light internal vertical crease, Fine appearance.

Red Bank received no 1847 stamps of either denomination. The difficulty of finding small town usages from New Jersey has been compounded by a number of spurious creations and several covers whose existence can no longer be verified. This cover and a usage from Cross Keys are the only known manuscript towns from New Jersey.
