Newfoundland 1857, 8d scarlet vermilion, diagonal bisect (8a), with enormous margins, well tied by barred oval handstamp on 1860 folded letter sheet to Baltimore "pr Mail via Halifax" showing "St. Johns Newfoundland Paid/MR 28 1860" origin c.d.s. in red and "5 Boston Br. Pkt./Apr 9" c.d.s. adjacent, two vertical file folds do not affect the stamp, faint parallel bend just crosses the bottom of the stamp and is so inconsequential, it was not mentioned on the accompanying certificate, Extremely Fine. SG 8a.
