U.S. 1855, 10¢ green on buff stationery envelope (U16), with red Wells Fargo frank to New York, showing "Customs/Crown/Vancouver" intaglio seal, Very Fine, almost complete strike, and "New York/Dec 12 1858" c.d.s., carried out of the mails via Panama, some damage to cover at top and flap at back missing, very rare example of the first provisional handstamp of Vancouver.
