Canal Zone 1924, 1c green (67), horizontal block of eight. Exceptionally well centered. Toned o.g. with toning heavy in spots but mostly confined to the reverse, though visible to some degree on the front. Otherwise a Very Fine and rare multiple.

The "Mt. Hope" overprint on the 1¢ Vallarino was apparently not noticed by collectors and consequently most were used for postage. This fact combined with an estimated issue of only 15,000 examples just prior to the release of the 1¢ Coat of Arms, resulted in there being perhaps as few as 500 unused examples in existence, with a large percentage of those being poorly centered and having interleaving adhering to the gum.
