1868 (Oct. 9) Boston, Mass. to Manila, Philippines, red paid c.d.s. with segmented corks tying two 30¢ orange (71) singles and 24¢ lilac (78) on blue Peirce correspondence folded letter from the Manila find, endorsed per "Stmr. of Octo. 10th / Via Marseilles" sailing via the Inman Line City of Paris, blue Storer oval cachet, red crayon "64 / 2" credit (2-times 32¢), red "London Paid 20 OC 68" transit c.d.s., red crayon "2", bluish-black "Hong Kong DE 5 '68" transit backstamp, Manila Dec 9 receiving backstamp and black "2" handstamp; stamps hinged in place; double the 42¢ British mail rate via Marseilles.

THE HIGHEST FRANKED COMPLETE COVER FROM THE MANILA FIND AND THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF THE DOUBLE 42¢ RATE.
