1864 (Dec. 14) New Orleans, La. to Bordeaux, France, duplex c.d.s. with four-rings cancelling 90¢ blue (72) along with 3¢ rose, 12¢ black (65, 69) on rebacked cover front, endorsed "by first steamer", red "New York Paid Dec 24" transit c.d.s., magenta "42" credit (7-times 6¢), red "Calais 8 Janv 1865" transit and matching boxed "PD" handstamp; 12¢ with nibbed perf and 3¢ with natural s.e., sealed cover tear at top left; Very Fine usage with attractive three-color franking; seven-times the 15¢ rate via American Packet to London, thence by French mail through Calais.
