1862 (Apr. 18) San Francisco to Thronjein, Norway, double-circle datestamp with San Francisco cogwheel cancellation tying 90¢ Blue (72), single with rich color, on yellow cover used with 1¢ blue (63) pair cancelled by matching cogwheel cancels, red "N. York Am. Pkt" transit c.d.s., magenta manuscript "46" credit, Aachen and Hamburg transit postmarks; minor edge wear, a fabulous and Very Fine usage; double the 46¢ Prussian closed mail rate.

THE ONLY RECORDED 90¢ 1861 USAGE TO NORWAY AND ONE OF THE GREATEST COVERS OF THE PERIOD.
