1862 (Nov. 9) New York to Shanghae, China, datelined folded letter from the Heard correspondence bearing 90¢ blue (72) along with 24¢ brown lilac (70a) cancelled by grids, red "N. York Br. Pkt. Paid" c.d.s., endorsed "Pr 'Persia'" which sailed for London on Sep. 10th, red "London Paid SP 22 '62" transit, magenta "104" credit, red crayon "2", "Hong Kong NO 12 '62" backstamp; 90¢ with nat. s.e. at left, small edge mend above endorsement, Very Fine usage; 1.14¢ British mail rate via Marseilles for letters weighing over ¾ ounce but not over 1 ounce.
