Hayes, Col. Cmd. 7th Regt. La. Vols.", no flap, lightly cleaned with minor cosmetic improvement mainly along edges, Very Fine appearance.

Colonel Harry T. Hays was the first commanding officer of the the 7th Louisiana Volunteers, who were sometimes called the Pelican Regiment. This regiment was mustered into service for the duration of the war on June 5, 1861 with Hays commanding them at the first battle of Manassas. Harry T. Hays was later promoted to brigadier general on July 25, 1862, and assumed command of the First Louisiana Brigade.
