Jul. 4, 1862" c.d.s. addressed to Lawrence, Ga.; part of backflap missing, light overall soiling, reinforced edge wear.

With original enclosure datelined, "Camp in the woods Va, July 3, 1862" that reads in part, "I have been engaged in the last four days in two severe engagements…Capt Langston was wounded in three places, but will get well, I think. He will suffer much…" The letter ends with "P.S. I will send this in a Yankee envelope".
