1908 "Deutsche Colonial-Gesellschaft für Südwest-Afrika, Swakopmund" corner card envelope to the Imperial Railroad Commissioner in Aus, bearing 10pf rose (Michel 13) singles (2), cancelled by two-line "Georg J. Hesselmann/Houston Line Agent" handstamp in violet and "Lüderitzbucht/Deutsch-/Südwestafrika" segmented transit c.d.s., one 10pf defective, minor ageing, Fine and outstanding usage.

THE ONLY RECORDED EXAMPLE OF A COVER WITH THE HOUSTON LINE AGENT'S HANDSTAMP USED TO FORWARD MAIL.

The German Government entered into a contract with the Houston Line in January, 1907 guaranteeing the fresh water supply from Lüderitzbuch, which only lasted for six months. The Houston Line ship "Hippomenes" operated along the coast between Cape Town and Swakopmund.
