1870, 24¢ purple, grilled (142), cancelled in such a way that the exceptionally strong, virtually complete grill is quite clear even from the front, with color a bit stronger than is normally found on the often washed out 24¢ value. Fresh and nearly Very Fine for this. Scott $6,500

The National Bank Note Company's 24¢ grill is not known in unused condition, thus the presence of this used stamp in Little's otherwise unused collection.
