1849 (Oct. 11) to Dorchester, New Brunswick, buff envelope showing red "Cleveland O." (type C3) c.d.s. with matching "Paid" and "10" handstamps for the prepaid 10¢ rate to the border, via Robbinston, Me.-St. Andrews N.B. exchange, manuscript "9" (d) rating for over 100 miles, reverse with St. Andrews (10.18), St. John (10.19) and Dorchester (10.21) backstamps, Very Fine and attractive.

New Brunswick was not part of Canada at this time. In 1851 an agreement, similar to U.S.-Canada, established a combined rate applicaable to New Brunswick, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
