1859, 10¢ black brown, "string of pearls" variety (16 var.), position 3, sharp early impression, deep rich color, well centered for this difficult stamp, tied by target cancellations which leave variety clear, on 1859 (Oct. 21) envelope to Newark, N.J., "Waterdown/UC" double arc origin datestamp and red straightline "Canada/Paid 10 cts", backstamped Hamilton, stamp has short perf at right, otherwise Very Fine usage of this rare variety on cover.
