Justice Dept., 1873, 3¢ purple (O27), tied by negative incised star cancellation duplexed with "Washington D.C. Jul 25" c.d.s. on cover to Brooklyn N.Y., red crimson Official Department seal corner card, few tiny tone spots affect stamp; Very Fine.

The Washington D.C. incised star cancellation was used for only a short time period in 1873. There are two recorded 3¢ Justice usages on July 25, 1873. The other was contained in the Turner Collection offered in our sale 304.
