ONE OF THE KEY ITEMS OF NEW ZEALAND PHILATELY AND POSTAL HISTORY.

Expertization: 1994 R.P.S.N.Z. Certificate.

The Postmaster at Dunedin resorted to the expedient of cutting the 1/- stamp in two and using each half as a 6d. Although not authorized, this practice was allowed, and Dunedin was the only post office which used bisected stamps.
Only 26 Richardson bisect covers, fronts, and dated pieces have been recorded.
