Philippines, 1943 Free Philippines Guerrilla Postal Service, 2c blue, two singles tied by purple oval "Posted in the Free Philippines, Mindanao Guerilla Area, 16 May, 1945, M.D. No. 10" on cover from Lt. Cdr. M.M. Wheeler to Los Angeles, Cal., matching "Tenth Military Dist." censor handstamp at lower left initialed "W" [for Wendell Fertig], Very Fine. With just 500 stamps issued and only about 36 covers recorded, this may well be the only double franking in existence. Accompanied by a six-page article by Walter W. Adler on the history of the stamps from the Sept 1982 issue of The American Philatelist.
