1867, 3¢ rose, partially erased A. grill (83 var.), exceptionally fresh and well centered with unusually large margins and a neat segmented cork cancel, Very Fine and choice.

The C. grills were created by erasing the outer edges of the all-over A. grills on the grill roller. Due to incomplete erasure, some examples of the C. grill still show traces of the former all-over grill outside the borders of the central grill. Examples showing traces of the all-over grill are scarce and are priced separately by Scott in an explanatory paragraph above #83.
