Edward Everett, Carte de Visite Photograph, classic Brady portrait, published by E. Anthony of New York City, rounded corners, otherwise Very Fine.
Estimate $200 - 300

Everett was vice-presidential running mate the Constitutional Union Party's John Bell in the 1860 presidential election. In November of 1863, at the dedication of the military cemetery at Gettysburg, Everett was the principle speaker. His two-hour formal oration preceded Lincoln's very brief Gettysburg Address. Everett was impressed by the President's concise speech and wrote to him observing "I should be glad if I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes."
