Inauguration Day Parade, letter containing an eyewitness account of the parade datelined "Judiciary Square, March 4" /65", the writer gives details of the order of march: police followed by soldiers, then Lincoln in his carriage (accompanied by Senators Doolittle Foster & Henderson), "the 'Congressional Committee of Arrangement'", etc.; he also mentions "…splendid fire engines from Phila. the 'good will' & 'franklin'" and "…a miniture [sic] 'monitor' on wheels…The turret…would revolve & at each revolution salutes would be fired to the great eddification [sic] of the lookers on." Includes original cover franked with a 3¢ 1861 tied by Washington, D.C. duplex, Mar 6, 1865, Very Fine. Estimate $150 - 200
