Slavery letters, group of 11 items comprising seven pre-Civil War (1841-56) and one post-war (1874) letters mentioning slavery, including an ALS from J.W. Shields to J.W. Denver mentioning the Kansas and Nebraska problems; also two collateral letters: one ALS from Reverdy Johnson (U.S. Atty. General, 1849-50 and attorney for the defense in the Dread Scott case), the other a John Brown association letter (from school mates of Brown's two daughters, Mar 1860); also an 1855 printed circular from the "Free Soil or Independent Democratic party" calling for a Convention of "radical political Abolitionists"; a Fine and interesting group.
